Default Kenya travel timing advice

hello the news group.

I'm planning my second trip to Kenya. I intend to do about 2 weeks of
volunteer work, followed by one week of travel. The volunteer work is likely
to be teaching, probably indoors. The choices I'm considering are
approximately:

1) Volunteer work 21 May -3 June, travel 4 June -10 June
2) Volunteer work 18 June - 1 July, travel 2 July - 8 July

Of course I want decent weather for travel but am thinking tourism will be
less busy in June than July, and I'm not big on crowds. I'd appreciate
anyone's comments on the timing. Don't ask where I'm traveling, I'm meeting
someone and we don't have that all figured out yet, or might just figure it
out when I get there. Actually, I'd like to go to see Ngorongoro crater, so
that leads to another question about visa requirements for Tanzania. Can you
buy one at the border crossing, or do you need to get one ahead of time?

thanks for any advice
Gail

Default Kenya travel timing advice

Gail,

by the way, it seems we will be in Kenya at the same time. I'm
just making plans for mid-May to mid-June.

My plans will lead me into remote places though, not good for a
first-time visitor. We're unlikely to meet, unless you have very
similar plans. I may try to find the elusive hunting dogs, a
plan that has only a meager likelihood to succeed.

Hans-Georg
