Actually, Disney Travel Company owns the semi-offsite resorts, and
leases them out to companies to operate. The operators have changed a
couple of times in the roughly 30 years that they have been in
existence. Disney keeps some serious controls on what these resorts
can do.
Of course, I'm assuming you're talking about the DTD resorts, or thw
Swalphin. Some place like the Marriot Maingate is owned by (last time
I looked) Florida Inns and operated by Marriot.
