No. I don't admit I am provoking. In the same fashion a bloke from Seattle
wants to cruise to Puerto Vallarta. To see the world a bit. The shortest
path between the origin and the destination is around 4300. If there is only
a month or so to be on the road, there about must be full day rides (I
assume some desert stretches would be a bit dull anyways). Naturally such
cruises aren't made for families with small children.

If you lived far apart from Portugal and Spain and you are willing to drive
there, it makes thousands after thousands of kilometres when you start from
as remote a place as Helsinki. Something unavoidable by car. Naturally there
are options. For instance one can buy a two way flight ticket to Madrid and
rent a vehicle there. If the Iberian peninsula was of the major interest
this is an option to consider. If you wanted to see things in between and
you want to carry lots of stuff, the rented car sounds less attractive. One
can also consider train travelling but then the gear must be very slim line.
