Hello!
I wanted to follow up from my trip the question I asked here last month. I
really appreciated all the replys to help me decide what to do with the
purchase of JD for our host. I ended up buying here in Michigan 43.00 and I
believe 6% tax as groceries here are taxed. *but I'm not positive on the 6%*
I stored it, well wrapped, in our checked luggage. In Detriot we could have
bought it duty free for 34.00 and they would deliver it to the plane. BUT
here is the 'but', when we arrrived to the Heathrow in London, our plane did
not get a gate so we had to wait for stairs,, then buses, then walk 100
miles before picking up luggage. (ok, not 100) But, once at bagages pick up
area, there was backups of suitcases from other flights and ours, so our
bags (along with a hunderd others) were taken off the belt and moves behind
in a near by area. (out of sight, which was not announces and no one knew on
our flight). It was crazy. I'm happy we bought at home not Detroit so we
did not have to lug the whiskey from plane to bus to tim-buck-two. I'm also
happy we did not wait to buy the JD in Heathrow as that was also another
duty free option. Our friends had already waited for us because of the snafu
arriving.

We had an outstanding time in England and it was wonderful to spend so much
time with our friends.

Thank you everyone that replied.
Cheryl
PS and this was Terminal 4 not 5. <G>
