I have a packing list that I print a copy of when I start planning a
trip. It lists everything I usually bring, like various items of
clothing, toiletries, camera and laptop accessories, cash, picture
I.D., credit card, coupons, etc. If there's something else I want to
bring, I'll jot it on the list.

Then when I'm packing, I just follow the list so I don't forget
anything.
