Default Fun and games at Sheffield this autumn

The main line between Sheffield and Chesterfield will be closed from
8th September to 13th December, continuously, due to engineers working
on Bradway tunnel.

According to an AXC train manager I spoke to recently, half of their
services will run directly over the old road between Rotherham
Masborough and Chesterfield, avoiding Sheffield, and the other half
will run via Beighton Junction and Woodhouse, reversing at the north
end of Sheffield station. No doubt EMT St. Pancras and Norwich
services will also take the latter route.

The Sheffield - Manchester route is not affected.

The diversion between Sheffield and Chesterfield normally adds about
10 or 15 minutes to journey times.
