We've decided to rent a car in Vancouver, see that city and Victoria and
environs. We'd return the car in Vancouver and are interested in the ferries
down to Seattle. Any suggestions? We'd like to see the San Juan Islands, for
example. For scenic beauty and a pleasant trip, would you go with a ferry or
the train. And where do we go through security for the train or ferry?

Two hours and a whole different country away. Fly into Seattle, rent
a car drive to Vancouver and back. No drop off fee. Be sure to tell
them you are driving to Vancouver. I have done it plenty of times.
