A quickie-

We had about 330 of the 342 registered in attendance. Flying Turns not
running of course, but Knoebels added a walking tour to the event
schedule. Twister running one train but running VERY well, lots of
retracking over the winter. Knoebels busted butt to get the second
train running on Phoenix for the event. Concurrent ERTs on both
coasters for an hour. Minor glitches in registration due to the
massive amounts of people registered.

Lunch (pizza and soda) ran a bit long, not only due to the amount of
people but also due to a surprise for Knoebel that we couldn't
tell anyone about. His family restored their old 1940's fire truck
(that sat inside the railroad tracks) for 's birthday. DAFE also
presented with a giant birthday card signed by DAFE and ACE
members attending the event. DAFE also supplied a birthday cake for
and two sheet cakes for the rest of us.

After the park closed for the day, we gathered for a group photo in
front of the Haunted Mansion then queued for a walkthrough tour of the
Mansion, the first time Knoebels has ever allowed a group this large
to go through.

Knoebels threw in a few extras as well. Everyone received a ride
ticket for the sky ride and two tickets for the Haunted Mansion, one
of which was a 20+ year old ticket. Most people chose to keep that
ticket as Knoebels planned to destroy all the remaining stock of those
old tickets.

Knoebels also added one last ride on the Haunted Mansion before we
left for the day and kept Phoenix open until 7 for anyone having an
event badge.

All this for only $20!!

Opening day next year will be another Dawn of a New Season event, this
time hosted by the Great Ohio Coaster Club.
