Default Commercial / Multiengine rating, combined?

Even a C-150 for the CP/ASEL addon? I own a 150, maybe I can practice
learning the maneuvers in it since I don't have to pay for rental, then
do the multi-engine training and CP/AMEL, then get the CP/ASEL in the
150. Is this a good idea? Do you think it would take me longer in the
multi without doing the complex SE first (I have no complex experience)?
