The balkanisation of these small, independent operators seems only to
guarantee an ever-larger number of ever-smaller companies using
clapped out rolling stock to run a small number of special trains,
then running out of cash and being taken over or going out of
business.

It is a bit like watching double glazing companies going bust then
reappearing under a slightly different name, with the same premises,
same personnel and the same business practices, having left a lot of
suppliers and subcontractors in the lurch.

Hopefully, one day, something stable and viable will emerge from this
appalling mess.
